APTM - Airport Management

APTM 241
Airport Passenger Services and Movement Operations
3 Credits          Weekly (3-0-0)

Students learn how passenger movement is managed across the airport environment, from terminal entry through gate areas. They develop practical skills in accessibility assistance, queue management, baggage-flow coordination, and customer-service interactions across terminal zones. Students practice communicating with security, airline, and airport partners while accurately documenting passenger interactions. The course emphasizes professionalism, safety, privacy, and duty-of-care expectations, particularly during irregular operations and high-pressure situations commonly encountered in airport passenger services.

Prerequisites: AVIA 202.

APTM 242
Airport Facilities, Layout, and Ramp Procedures
3 Credits          Weekly (3-0-0)

This course introduces students to airport terminal configuration, airside and apron zones, and the safe-movement rules that govern airport operational areas. Students examine aircraft-proximity hazards, wildlife-management protocols, and airside communication procedures. The course also incorporates foundational airport property-management concepts, including terminal leasing structures, concession and tenant spaces, rent-collection practices, and the coordination required to maintain safe, functional, and compliant airport facilities. Emphasis is placed on hazard awareness, environmental conditions, and accurate reporting within airside and ramp operations.

Prerequisites: AVIA 202.

APTM 341
Airport Technology and Operational Tools
3 Credits          Weekly (3-0-0)

Students develop practical skills in using airport passenger, baggage, and tracking systems within terminal operations. They learn how operational data tools support routing decisions, system monitoring, and real-time operational coordination. Students practice retrieving, entering, and verifying data while following cyber-security, privacy, and data-integrity requirements. The course also develops basic technical troubleshooting skills, including interpreting system alerts and escalating unresolved issues. Emphasis is placed on professional documentation, digital communication, and the use of AI-supported passenger-flow and demand-forecasting indicators to support timely operational decisions.

Prerequisites: APTM 241.

APTM 342
Airport Terminal Service Coordination
3 Credits          Weekly (3-0-0)

This course focuses on coordinating terminal-wide service operations through integrated decision-making, crisis-response leadership, and cross-team collaboration. Students learn how terminal operations units align activities to maintain service continuity, respond to operational disruptions, support customer-service recovery, and uphold performance standards. Emphasis is placed on communication across operational partners, incident coordination, terminal-flow oversight, and the professional judgement required to manage service-related challenges in a dynamic airport environment.
