Hospice Palliative Care

Palliative care aspires to relieve suffering and enhance quality of life for people living with acute or chronic life-threatening illnesses. Nurses specializing in palliative care assist individuals and those close to them with physical, psychosocial and spiritual concerns and provide support through the bereavement processes.

Career Potential

Graduates specializing in palliative care nursing work in hospices, palliative units, acute care, home care settings, continuing care or nurse consulting positions. There are many opportunities to apply this specialized knowledge in both urban and rural settings.

Admission Requirements

Applicants may be admitted to one of the following:

Regular Admission

To be evaluated through the Office of the University Registrar

Applicants must be actively registered in Canada as one of the following:

  • Registered Nurse
  • Registered Psychiatric Nurse
  • Graduate Nurse with a temporary permit
  • Licensed Practical Nurse
  • Registered Practical Nurse

Additional Admission Criteria

All applicants must meet the following:

1. English Language Proficiency

To be evaluated through the Office of the University Registrar

We will require official documents such as high school or post-secondary transcripts or proof of successful completion of standardized language evaluation.
