Mandatory Term Fees
The following are the estimated fees for the 2022-2023 academic year and are subject to change after final approval by the Ministry of Advanced Education.

Information Technology Fee
This fee was established to fund technology projects that specifically result in providing new or improved technology services that benefit students.
Medical Clinic Fee
This fee supports Health Services for all students. Students who need medical support may make an appointment at the MacEwan University Health Centre located near the City Centre Campus.
Mental Health Fee
This fee supports the provision of mental health and wellness services available to students, including mental health treatment and support, and health promotion and community building initiatives.
Registrarial Service Fee
This fee covers a variety of services offered by the Office of the University Registrar, including but not limited to: Application to Graduate, Parchment Replacement, Confirmation Letters and cost of Undergraduate Transcripts.
Sport and Wellness Fee
MacEwan University supports the value of developing the whole person by providing students with opportunities to grow intellectually, socially, personally and physically. The Sport and Wellness fee provides students a membership to Sport and Wellness, funding for Recreation programming and Griffins Athletics.

Only applicable for English as an Additional Language and University Preparation programs. The "SAMU General Membership Fee" is not charged to English as an Additional Language and University Preparation programs.
Global Education Fee
This fee provides funds to overseas educational projects for underprivileged schools and students ($1); and sponsors refugee students’ attendance at MacEwan University ($2.50).
SAMU Building Levy Fee
The SAMU Building Levy, is a mandatory levy that is charged to all students who are registered for one credit or more in a single term. The building levy collected each term goes directly to paying off the Students’ Association building mortgage. The SAMU Building focuses on student space and was voted for by the students and is operated by the Students’ Association of MacEwan University. The SAMU Building is located just west of Building 8. It can be accessed via the 2nd floor 109-street pedway, or from the main floor on the northeast corner of 104 ave and 109 street, or on the west side of the building under the 109-street pedway.
SAMU General Membership Fee
The Students’ Association of MacEwan University (SAMU) is the student government body that represents and serves MacEwan University students. SAMU is a statutory corporation established under section 93 of the Post-secondary Learning Act that operates offices on all MacEwan University campuses.
Supplemental Health Care and Dental Fee
A mandatory Supplemental Health Care and Dental Care fee is charged to all full-time and part-time students as part of the enrolment process. Student eligibility for health and dental plans is determined and assessed in the Fall term for coverage until December 31, and again in the Winter term for coverage until August 31. Any student with proof of alternate coverage for supplemental health care and/or dental care may opt out of these plans prior to the advertised deadline date by contacting the plan administrator. The health plan is above and beyond the provincial insurance plan, and the dental plan has a list of specified dentists. A supplemental legal assistance fee is charged to all full-time and part-time students as part of the enrolment process. Mylegalplan is built to address student concerns around the anxieties and financial pressures of pursuing legal action. Mylegalplan is designed to ensure that students have a resource that provides considerable legal coverage, and an easily accessible legal network of qualified and experienced lawyers from across the country. The Universal Transit Pass (U-Pass) is a mandatory fee voted for by students. The fee is assessed each term (Fall, Winter, Spring/Summer) to all students who are registered in an on-campus program and enrolled in at least one credit on-campus class. The U-Pass provides students with unlimited usage to regular transit services (excluding special event, contracted and charter service) from Edmonton Transit Service, St. Albert Transit, Strathcona County Transit, Spruce Grove Transit, Fort Saskatchewan Transit, Leduc Transit, and Beaumont Transit service. The Students’ Association of MacEwan University (SAMU) administers the U-Pass.
